Max and Jule are the furriest inhabitants of Bielefeld: the brown bears live at the zoo at Tierpark Olderdissen, in the middle of the Teutoburg forest – perfect for hiking, walking, mountain-biking or trail running. If you prefer to set your sights high, you can do this at the climbing park on the Johannisberg. There is a high ropes adventure course set amongst the tree tops in the forest. The green transport corridors and parks in Bielefeld invite you to explore the meadow landscape of Johannisbachaue, the lake at Obersee or the Stauteich (pond).

Bielefeld's football club, Arminia Bielefeld has reached near legendary status. As the so-called "lift club", it bravely ascends and descends between the German premier league and third league. Arminia has reached the Bundesliga seven times – a record only Nuremburg can compete with.
The Hermannslauf Race is a mecca for trail running enthusiasts and takes place annually on the last weekend in April. Runners compete along a 31.1 kilometre stretch from the Herrmannsdenkmal (Hermann Monument) in Detmold to the Sparrenburg castle in Bielefeld.
At the Bielefeld City Jam and at the Kessel Cup, young people show off the latest tricks they have mastered on their skateboards and BMX wheels.
